Clinical Assessments
Our experienced psychologists provide comprehensive psychological assessments for children for a range of developmental, behavioural and learning difficulties, including Autism and ADHD. Our decades of collective experience and access to a wide range of evidence‑based and clinically validated assessment tools, allows us to offer a comprehensive assessment tailored to your individual needs.
We offer assessments for children aged from 2 years old to 16 years old. Assessments are completed in person in our Hamilton office, though can involve observation or assessment at external sites such as day care or school.
Our comprehensive psychological assessments are individually tailored, with clinicians determining the most appropriate components based on the referral question, presenting issues, and individual circumstances. This process may involve:
At least 1-2 sessions to complete the clinical interview and observation gathering information on current presenting issues and relevant background information. This will inform recommended standardised assessments.
Recommended standardised assessment will typically include tools and measures such as the Wechsler Intelligence Scales (the WPPSI-IV or WISC-V), adaptive behaviour measures for home and school, child behaviour checklists for home and school, ADOS (Autism Diagnosis Observation Scale). Depending which assessments have been recommended, administration may require 1 - 3 sessions.
Additional assessments may include further exploring co-presenting issues or behaviour using other questionnaires and forms. These will be discussed with parents at the time.
The report writing is completed over the following three weeks depending on the complexity of the presentation. Generational Psychology psychologists take pride in the level of professionalism and expertise in their reports, which usually have numerous implications and suggestions for ongoing multi-disciplinary input, school support (including additional support at school), and NDIS funding.
A feedback session is then scheduled to discuss the report.
